The statement on internal control is a public accountability document that describes the effectiveness of internal controls in the Secretariat and is personally signed by the Secretary-General each year. It was first developed in the wake of the Secretary-General’s management reform, and supports the implementation of the delegation of authority and the commitment to transparency and accountability for results. Each year, the statement will reflect on the specific areas that are identified as opportunities for improvement.
